Men of understanding say to me – any wise man listening to me says –

See my pain and suffering! Forgive all my sins! ¹ 

I will think about all you have done; I will reflect upon your deeds!”

My eyes anticipate the nighttime hours, so that I can meditate on your word.

Those who are eager to do ¹  wrong draw near; they are far from your law.

My child, do not let them ¹  escape from your sight; safeguard sound wisdom and discretion. ² 

The plans ¹  of the righteous are just; the counsels of the wicked are deceitful. ² 

Keen insight ¹  wins ²  favor, but the conduct ³  of the unfaithful is harsh. ⁴ 

The intentions of the heart ¹  belong to a man, ²  but the answer of the tongue ³  comes from ⁴  the Lord. ⁵ 

So ¹  they began to discuss this among themselves, saying, “It is because we brought no bread.”

Finally he sent his son to them, ¹  saying, ‘They will respect my son.’

Now some of the experts in the law ¹  were sitting there, turning these things over in their minds: ² 

for she kept saying, ¹  “If only I touch his clothes, I will be healed.” ² 

(For they were afraid, and he did not know what to say.) ¹ 

For when you were slaves of sin, you were free with regard to righteousness.

For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor? ¹ 

Keep thinking about things above, not things on the earth,

These people are divisive, ¹  worldly, ²  devoid of the Spirit. ³ 

The man ¹  replied, “Who made you a ruler ²  and a judge over us? Are you planning ³  to kill me like you killed that ⁴  Egyptian?” Then Moses was afraid, thinking, ⁵  “Surely what I did ⁶  has become known.”

Then Samuel said, “Bring me King Agag of the Amalekites.” So Agag came to him trembling, ¹  thinking to himself, ²  “Surely death is bitter!” ³
