Lord, we confess that we have been wicked. We confess that our ancestors have done wrong. ¹  We have indeed ²  sinned against you.

For he will die in the country where they took him as a captive. He will never see this land again.” ¹ 

I will make ¹  the land desolate because they have acted unfaithfully, declares the sovereign Lord.”

Moreover, they have done this to me: In the very same day ¹  they desecrated my sanctuary and profaned my Sabbaths.

And you will be brought before governors and kings ¹  because of me, as a witness to them and the Gentiles.

Or these men here ¹  should tell what crime ²  they found me guilty of ³  when I stood before the council, ⁴ 

For they refreshed my spirit and yours. So then, recognize people like this.

When she had done so, ¹  she said, “I’ll draw water for your camels too, until they have drunk as much as they want.”

“Come to my aid ¹  so we can attack Gibeon, for it has made peace with Joshua and the Israelites.”

Look how they are repaying us! They come to drive us out of our allotted land which you assigned to us!

Powerful kings have been over Jerusalem who ruled throughout the entire Trans-Euphrates ¹  and who were the beneficiaries of ²  tribute, custom, and toll.

Do not cover their iniquity, and do not wipe out their sin from before them. For they have bitterly offended ¹  the builders! ² 

But ¹  the tents of robbers are peaceful, and those who provoke God are confident ²  – who carry their god in their hands. ³ 

He gives back the ill-gotten gain ¹  without assimilating it; ²  he will not enjoy the wealth from his commerce. ³ 

“While he is ¹  filling his belly, God ²  sends his burning anger ³  against him, and rains down his blows upon him. ⁴ 

You may say, ¹  ‘God stores up a man’s ²  punishment for his children!’ ³  Instead let him repay ⁴  the man himself ⁵  so that ⁶  he may know it!

They encourage one another to carry out their evil deed. ¹  They plan how to hide ²  snares, and boast, ³  “Who will see them?” ⁴ 

For they cannot sleep unless they cause harm; ¹  they are robbed of sleep ²  until they make someone stumble. ³ 

They went through the pass, spent the night at Geba. Ramah trembled, Gibeah of Saul ran away.

He repays them for what they have done, dispensing angry judgment to his adversaries and punishing his enemies. ¹  He repays the coastlands. ²
