This is how you are to eat it – dressed to travel, ¹  your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. You are to eat it in haste. It is the Lord’s Passover. ² 

You must not take for yourself anything that has been placed under judgment. ¹  Then the Lord will relent from his intense anger, show you compassion, have mercy on you, and multiply you as he promised your ancestors.

They consult their wooden idols, and their diviner’s staff answers with an oracle. The wind of prostitution blows them astray; they commit spiritual adultery ¹  against their God.

You must not do injustice in the regulation of measures, whether of length, weight, or volume. ¹ 

The folds ¹  of its flesh are tightly joined; they are firm on it, immovable. ² 

A club is counted ¹  as a piece of straw; it laughs at the rattling of the lance.

Like the fire that burns down the forest, or the flames that consume the mountainsides, ¹

Like a madman ¹  who shoots firebrands and deadly arrows, ² 

The Lord has broken the club of the wicked, the scepter of rulers.

My blessing is on those people who trust in me, who put their confidence in me. ¹ 

It is good for a man ¹  to bear ²  the yoke ³  while he is young. ⁴

But Jacob took fresh-cut branches from poplar, almond, and plane trees. He made white streaks by peeling them, making the white inner wood in the branches visible.
