א (Alef) ¹ Alas! ²  Gold has lost its luster; ³  pure gold loses value. ⁴  Jewels ⁵  are scattered on every street corner. ⁶ 

From this measured area you will measure a length of eight and a quarter miles ¹  and a width of three and one-third miles; ²  in it will be the sanctuary, the most holy place.

For the Israelites ¹  must live many days without a king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred fertility pillar, without ephod or idols.

Then you shall say before the Lord your God, “I have removed the sacred offering ¹  from my house and given it to the Levites, the resident foreigners, the orphans, and the widows just as you have commanded me. ²  I have not violated or forgotten your commandments.

He eliminated the high places, smashed the sacred pillars to bits, and cut down the Asherah pole. ¹  He also demolished the bronze serpent that Moses had made, for up to that time ²  the Israelites had been offering incense to it; it was called Nehushtan. ³ 

You are to put the turban on his head and put the holy diadem ¹  on the turban.

“You are to take the ram of the consecration and cook ¹  its meat in a holy place. ² 

The priest who offers it for sin is to eat it. It must be eaten in a holy place, in the court of the Meeting Tent.

Any male among the priests may eat it. It must be eaten in a holy place. It is most holy. ¹ 

“‘These are the Lord’s appointed times, holy assemblies, which you must proclaim at their appointed time.

And on the first day there is to be a holy assembly; you must do no ordinary work ¹  on it.

Then the Levites quieted all the people saying, “Be quiet, for this day is holy. Do not grieve.”

The river’s channels bring joy to the city of God, ¹  the special, holy dwelling place of ²  the sovereign One. ³ 

Yes, ¹  he remembered the sacred promise ²  he made to Abraham his servant.

Obey the king’s command, ¹  because you took ²  an oath before God ³  to be loyal to him. ⁴ 

It will be their portion from the allotment of the land, a most holy place, next to the border of the Levites.

I will uproot your images of Asherah ¹  from your midst, and destroy your idols. ² 

He has done this ¹  to show mercy ²  to our ancestors, ³  and to remember his holy covenant ⁴  –

And both the tabernacle and all the utensils of worship he likewise sprinkled with blood.

It will be on Aaron’s forehead, and Aaron will bear the iniquity of the holy things, ¹  which the Israelites are to sanctify by all their holy gifts; ²  it will always be on his forehead, for their acceptance ³  before the Lord.
