My child, ²  be attentive to my wisdom, pay close attention ³  to my understanding,

Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,” ¹  and call understanding a close relative,

Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice?

You who are naive, discern ¹  wisdom! And you fools, understand discernment! ² 

For wisdom is better than rubies, and desirable things cannot be compared ¹  to her.

“I, wisdom, live with prudence, ¹  and I find ²  knowledge and discretion.

Counsel and sound wisdom belong to me; ¹  I possess understanding and might.

Wisdom has built her house; she has carved out its seven pillars. ² 

The beginning ¹  of wisdom is to fear the Lord, ²  and acknowledging ³  the Holy One ⁴  is understanding.

The teaching ¹  of the righteous feeds ²  many, but fools die ³  for lack of wisdom. ⁴ 

When pride ¹  comes, ²  then comes disgrace, ³  but with humility ⁴  comes ⁵  wisdom.

The one who denounces ¹  his neighbor lacks wisdom, ²  but the one who has discernment ³  keeps silent. ⁴ 

With pride ¹  comes only ²  contention, but wisdom is with the well-advised. ³ 

The scorner ¹  seeks wisdom but finds none, ²  but understanding is easy ³  for a discerning person.

The one who acquires wisdom ¹  loves himself; ²  the one who preserves understanding will prosper. ³ 

Acquire ¹  truth and do not sell it – wisdom, and discipline, and understanding.

By ¹  wisdom a house is built, ²  and through understanding it is established;

Wisdom is unattainable ¹  for a fool; in court ²  he does not open his mouth. ³ 

I passed by the field of a sluggard, by the vineyard of one who lacks wisdom. ¹ 

I have not learned wisdom, nor do I have knowledge ¹  of the Holy One. ²
