The meadows are clothed with sheep, and the valleys are covered with grain. They shout joyfully, yes, they sing.

Yet he brought out his people like sheep; he led them through the wilderness like a flock.

Yet he protected ¹  the needy from oppression, and cared for his families like a flock of sheep.

I have wandered off like a lost sheep. ¹  Come looking for your servant, for I do not forget your commands.

“‘For this is what the sovereign Lord says: Look, I myself will search for my sheep and seek them out.

I myself will feed my sheep and I myself will make them lie down, declares the sovereign Lord.

and he did treat Abram well ¹  on account of her. Abram received ²  sheep and cattle, male donkeys, male servants, female servants, female donkeys, and camels.

So Abimelech gave ¹  sheep, cattle, and male and female servants to Abraham. He also gave his wife Sarah back to him.

He had ¹  so many sheep ²  and cattle ³  and such a great household of servants that the Philistines became jealous ⁴  of him.

“We can’t,” they said, “until all the flocks are gathered and the stone is rolled off the mouth of the well. Then we water ¹  the sheep.”

“Every firstborn of the womb ¹  belongs to me, even every firstborn ²  of your cattle that is a male, ³  whether ox or sheep.

“‘If his offering is from the flock for a burnt offering ¹  – from the sheep or the goats – he must present a flawless male,

if it is to be acceptable for your benefit ¹  it must be a flawless male from the cattle, sheep, or goats.

Then they came very close to him and said, “We will build sheep folds here for our flocks and cities for our families, ¹ 

You must not sacrifice to him ¹  a bull or sheep that has a blemish or any other defect, because that is considered offensive ²  to the Lord your God.

When you see ¹  your neighbor’s ²  ox or sheep going astray, do not ignore it; ³  you must return it without fail ⁴  to your neighbor.

They annihilated with the sword everything that breathed in the city, ¹  including men and women, young and old, as well as cattle, sheep, and donkeys.
