Therefore see to it ¹  that the light in you ²  is not darkness.

because the sun’s light failed. ¹  The temple curtain ²  was torn in two.

In him was life, ¹  and the life was the light of mankind. ² 

And the light shines on ¹  in the darkness, ²  but ³  the darkness has not mastered it. ⁴ 

As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” ¹ 

But if anyone walks around at night, ¹  he stumbles, ²  because the light is not in him.”

As he was going along, approaching ¹  Damascus, suddenly a light from heaven flashed ²  around him.

And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself ¹  as an angel of light.

for the fruit of the light ¹  consists in ²  all goodness, righteousness, and truth –

But all things being exposed by the light are made evident.

Those who call evil good and good evil are as good as dead, ¹  who turn darkness into light and light into darkness, who turn bitter into sweet and sweet into bitter. ² 

For this reason deliverance ¹  is far from us ²  and salvation does not reach us. We wait for light, ³  but see only darkness; ⁴  we wait for ⁵  a bright light, ⁶  but live ⁷  in deep darkness. ⁸ 

The sun will no longer supply light for you by day, nor will the moon’s brightness shine on you; the Lord will be your permanent source of light – the splendor of your God will shine upon you. ¹ 

Now this is the basis for judging: ¹  that the light has come into the world and people ²  loved the darkness rather than the light, because their deeds were evil.

Then Jesus spoke out again, ¹  “I am the light of the world. ²  The one who follows me will never ³  walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Jesus replied, ¹  “The light is with you for a little while longer. ²  Walk while you have the light, so that the darkness may not overtake you. ³  The one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going.

For God, who said “Let light shine out of darkness,” ¹  is the one who shined in our hearts to give us the light of the glorious knowledge ²  of God in the face of Christ. ³ 

But if we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses ¹  us from all sin. ² 

Night will be no more, and they will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, because the Lord God will shine on them, and they will reign forever and ever.

God called ¹  the light “day” and the darkness ²  “night.” There was evening, and there was morning, marking the first day. ³
