He asked them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered him, ¹  “You are the Christ.” ² 

Then ¹  they asked him, ²  “Why do the experts in the law ³  say that Elijah must come first?”

Jesus ¹  asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood.

Then, ¹  after he went into the house, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we cast it out?”

Then some Pharisees ¹  came, and to test him ²  they asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his ³  wife?” ⁴ 

So Pilate asked him again, ¹  “Have you nothing to say? See how many charges they are bringing against you!”

So Pilate asked them, ¹  “Do you want me to release the king of the Jews for you?”

He ¹  asked for a writing tablet ²  and wrote, ³  “His name is John.” And they were all amazed. ⁴ 

Jesus then ¹  asked him, “What is your name?” He ²  said, “Legion,” ³  because many demons had entered him.

So ¹  Jesus stopped and ordered the beggar ²  to be brought to him. When the man ³  came near, Jesus ⁴  asked him,

So they asked John, ¹  “Why then are you baptizing if you are not the Christ, ²  nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”

They asked him, “Who is the man who said to you, ‘Pick up your mat ¹  and walk’?” ² 

They asked the parents, ¹  “Is this your son, whom you say ²  was born blind? Then how does he now see?”

Some of the Pharisees ¹  who were with him heard this ²  and asked him, ³  “We are not blind too, are we?” ⁴ 

Then the disciple whom Jesus loved ¹  leaned back against Jesus’ chest and asked him, “Lord, who is it?”

When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple courts, ¹  he asked them for money. ² 

He ¹  found favor ²  with ³  God and asked that he could ⁴  find a dwelling place ⁵  for the house ⁶  of Jacob.

and came ¹  and apologized to them. After ²  they brought them out, they asked them repeatedly ³  to leave the city.

So the commanding officer ¹  came and asked ²  Paul, ³  “Tell me, are you a Roman citizen?” ⁴  He replied, ⁵  “Yes.”

After assembling all the chief priests and experts in the law, ¹  he asked them where the Christ ²  was to be born.
