Sing to him a new song! ¹  Play skillfully as you shout out your praises to him! ² 

They are bubbling with joy as they walk in procession and enter the royal palace. ¹ 

When he led his people out, they rejoiced; his chosen ones shouted with joy. ¹ 

Let them present thank offerings, and loudly proclaim what he has done! ¹ 

Those who shed tears as they plant will shout for joy when they reap the harvest. ¹ 

How deserted will that once-famous city ¹  be, that city that was once filled with ²  joy! ³ 

So ¹  they went out and preached that all should repent.

Rejoice in hope, endure in suffering, persist in prayer.

Therefore, since we have such a hope, we behave with great boldness, ¹ 

So welcome him in the Lord with great joy, and honor people like him,

My brothers and sisters, ¹  consider it nothing but joy ²  when you fall into all sorts of trials,

Joy and happiness disappear from the orchards, and in the vineyards no one rejoices or shouts; no one treads out juice in the wine vats ¹  – I have brought the joyful shouts to an end. ² 

For it is written: “Rejoice, O barren woman who does not bear children; ¹  break forth and shout, you who have no birth pains, because the children of the desolate woman are more numerous than those of the woman who has a husband.” ²

They swore their allegiance to the Lord, shouting their approval loudly and sounding trumpets and horns. ¹ 

For you grant him lasting blessings; you give him great joy by allowing him into your presence. ¹ 

Then you turned my lament into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and covered me with joy. ¹ 

I said, “During the night I will remember the song I once sang; I will think very carefully.” I tried to make sense of what was happening. ¹ 

They celebrate deliverance in the tents of the godly. ¹  The Lord’s right hand conquers, ²
