Those who sit at the city gate gossip about me; drunkards mock me in their songs. ¹ 

The Lord loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwelling places of Jacob.

They lost their appetite for all food, ¹  and they drew near the gates of death.

Open for me the gates of the just king’s temple! ¹  I will enter through them and give thanks to the Lord.

For he makes the bars of your gates strong. He blesses your children ¹  within you.

at the head of the noisy ¹  streets she calls, in the entrances of the gates in the city ²  she utters her words: ³ 

beside the gates opening into ¹  the city, at the entrance of the doorways she cries out: ² 

Those who are evil will bow ¹  before those who are good, and the wicked will bow ²  at the gates ³  of the righteous.

Wisdom is unattainable ¹  for a fool; in court ²  he does not open his mouth. ³ 

Her husband is well-known ¹  in the city gate ²  when he sits with the elders ³  of the land.

Give ¹  her credit for what she has accomplished, ²  and let her works praise her ³  in the city gates. ⁴ 

Open the gates so a righteous nation can enter – one that remains trustworthy.

He will be left unburied just like a dead donkey. His body will be dragged off and thrown outside the gates of Jerusalem.’” ¹ 

Then he measured the porch of the gate facing inward as 10½ feet.

Then he brought me to the north gate, and he measured it; it had the same dimensions as the others –

There was a chamber with its door by the porch of the gate; ¹  there they washed the burnt offering.

When the prince enters, he will come by way of the porch of the gate and will go out the same way.

I proceeded through the Valley Gate by night, in the direction of the Well of the Dragons ¹  and the Dung Gate, ²  inspecting ³  the walls of Jerusalem that had been breached and its gates that had been destroyed by fire.

On the outside of the inner gate were chambers for the singers of the inner court, one ¹  at the side of the north gate facing south, and the other at the side of the south ²  gate facing north.

All the land will change and become like the Arabah ¹  from Geba to Rimmon, ²  south of Jerusalem; and Jerusalem will be raised up and will stay in its own place from the Benjamin Gate to the site of the First Gate ³  and on to the Corner Gate, ⁴  and from the Tower of Hananel to the royal winepresses. ⁵
