Samuel continued to grow, and the Lord was with him. None of his prophecies fell to the ground unfulfilled. ¹ 

Although its roots may grow old ¹  in the ground and its stump begins to die ²  in the soil, ³ 

They attack me, now they surround me; ¹  they intend to throw me to the ground. ² 

so ¹  I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. See, you have what is yours.’

He also said, “The kingdom of God is like someone who spreads seed on the ground.

So the Lord God expelled him ¹  from the orchard in Eden to cultivate the ground from which he had been taken.

But the Lord said, “What have you done? ¹  The voice ²  of your brother’s blood is crying out to me from the ground!

God ¹  said, “Do not approach any closer! ²  Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy ³  ground.” ⁴ 

As the flame went up from the altar toward the sky, the Lord’s messenger went up in it ¹  while Manoah and his wife watched. They fell facedown ²  to the ground.

Jehoshaphat bowed down with his face toward the ground, and all the people of Judah ¹  and the residents of Jerusalem fell down before the Lord and worshiped him. ² 

Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God, and all the people replied “Amen! Amen!” as they lifted their hands. Then they bowed down and worshiped the LORD with their faces to the ground.

Then Job got up ¹  and tore his robe. ²  He shaved his head, ³  and then he threw himself down with his face to the ground. ⁴ 

Then they sat down with him on the ground for seven days and seven nights, yet no one spoke a word to him, for they saw that his pain ¹  was very great. ² 

his archers ¹  surround me. Without pity ²  he pierces ³  my kidneys and pours out my gall ⁴  on the ground.

The dry soil will become a pool of water, the parched ground springs of water. Where jackals once lived and sprawled out, grass, reeds, and papyrus will grow.

I listened to his voice, ¹  and as I did so ²  I fell into a trance-like sleep with my face to the ground.

So they brought the boy ¹  to him. When the spirit saw him, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He ²  fell on the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth.

Going a little farther, he threw himself to the ground and prayed that if it were possible the hour would pass from him.

Then I ¹  fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’
