For how do you know, wife, whether you will bring your husband to salvation? ¹  Or how do you know, husband, whether you will bring your wife to salvation? ² 

If from a human point of view I fought with wild beasts at Ephesus, ¹  what did it benefit me? If the dead are not raised, let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die. ² 

Put yourselves to the test to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize regarding yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you – unless, indeed, you fail the test! ¹ 

For what credit is it if you sin and are mistreated and endure it? But if you do good and suffer and so endure, this finds favor with God. ¹ 

“Are you the one who is to come, ¹  or should we look for another?”

And if you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah, who is to come.

Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

When ¹  they looked up, all they saw was Jesus alone.

If David then calls him ‘Lord,’ how can he be his son?” ¹ 

They watched ¹  Jesus ²  closely to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath, ³  so that they could accuse him.

Suddenly when they looked around, they saw no one with them any more except Jesus.

Peter said to him, “Even if they all fall away, I will not!”

So if ¹  you cannot do such a very little thing as this, why do you worry about ²  the rest?

“I have come ¹  to bring ²  fire on the earth – and how I wish it were already kindled!

Then if ¹  it bears fruit next year, ²  very well, ³  but if ⁴  not, you can cut it down.’”

If he cannot succeed, ¹  he will send a representative ²  while the other is still a long way off and ask for terms of peace. ³ 

Was no one found to turn back and give praise to God except this foreigner?” ¹ 

Now when Pilate heard this, he asked whether the man was a Galilean.

For if such things are done ¹  when the wood is green, what will happen when it is dry?” ² 

The woman said to him, “Sir, I see ¹  that you are a prophet.
