For the man, on whom this miraculous sign ¹  of healing had been performed, ²  was over forty years old.

But Peter helped him up, ¹  saying, “Stand up. I too am a mere mortal.” ² 

and as they were leaving they said to one another, ¹  “This man is not doing anything deserving ²  death or imprisonment.”

Agrippa ¹  said to Festus, ²  “This man could have been released ³  if he had not appealed to Caesar.” ⁴ 

For Moses writes about the righteousness that is by the law: “The one who does these things will live by them.” ¹ 

A person should examine himself first, ¹  and in this way ²  let him eat the bread and drink of the cup.

Do not be deceived. God will not be made a fool. ¹  For a person ²  will reap what he sows,

but emptied himself by taking on the form of a slave, ¹  by looking like other men, ²  and by sharing in human nature. ³ 

a minister in the sanctuary and the true tabernacle that the Lord, not man, set up.

So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper, and ¹  I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” ² 

But he answered, ¹  “It is written, ‘Man ²  does not live ³  by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” ⁴ 

A ¹  man was there who had a withered ²  hand. And they asked Jesus, ³  “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?” ⁴  so that they could accuse him.

He said, ‘An enemy has done this.’ So ¹  the slaves replied, ‘Do you want us to go and gather them?’

“What ¹  do you think? A man had two sons. He went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work in the vineyard today.’

But you say that if anyone tells his father or mother, ‘Whatever help you would have received from me is corban’ ¹  (that is, a gift for God),

Now when the centurion, ¹  who stood in front of him, saw how he died, ²  he said, “Truly this man was God’s Son!”

The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look at him, ¹  a glutton and a drunk, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ ² 

For I was afraid of you, because you are a severe ¹  man. You withdraw ²  what you did not deposit ³  and reap what you did not sow.’

Then ¹  he began to tell the people this parable: “A man ²  planted a vineyard, ³  leased it to tenant farmers, ⁴  and went on a journey for a long time.

Now when the centurion ¹  saw what had happened, he praised God and said, “Certainly this man was innocent!” ²
