So when Jesus ¹  had washed their feet and put his outer clothing back on, he took his place at the table ²  again and said to them, “Do you understand ³  what I have done for you?

the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot accept, ¹  because it does not see him or know him. But you know him, because he resides ²  with you and will be ³  in you.

I am writing to you, fathers, that ¹  you have known him who has been from the beginning. I am writing to you, young people, that ²  you have conquered the evil one. ³ 

(See what sort of love the Father has given to us: that ¹  we should be called God’s children – and indeed ²  we are! ³  For this reason ⁴  the world does not know us: because it did not know him. ⁵ 

but did not have marital relations ¹  with her until she gave birth to a son, whom he named ²  Jesus.

But when you do your giving, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,

Then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you. Go away from me, you lawbreakers!’ ¹ 

And their eyes were opened. Then Jesus sternly warned them, “See that no one knows about this.”

If ¹  you had known what this means: ‘I want mercy and not sacrifice,’ ²  you would not have condemned the innocent.

Now when Jesus learned of this, he went away from there. Great ¹  crowds ²  followed him, and he healed them all.

When Jesus learned of this, ¹  he said, “You who have such little faith! ²  Why are you arguing ³  among yourselves about having no bread?

When ¹  the chief priests and the Pharisees ²  heard his parables, they realized that he was speaking about them.

But Jesus realized their evil intentions and said, “Hypocrites! Why are you testing me?

He said to them, “Don’t you understand this parable? Then ¹  how will you understand any parable?

He strictly ordered that no one should know about this, ¹  and told them to give her something to eat.

They went out from there and passed through Galilee. But ¹  Jesus ²  did not want anyone to know,

Mary ¹  said to the angel, “How will this be, since I have not had sexual relations with ²  a man?”

But Jesus said, “Someone touched me, for I know that power has gone out ¹  from me.”

Nothing is hidden ¹  that will not be revealed, ²  and nothing is secret that will not be made known.

I know ¹  what to do so that when I am put out of management, people will welcome me into their homes.’ ²
