The Lord abhors ¹  dishonest scales, ²  but an accurate weight ³  is his elight.

They are prophesying lies to you and claiming my authority to do so. ¹  But I did not send them. I, the Lord, affirm it!’ ² 

Consequently ¹  God sends on them a deluding influence ²  so that they will believe what is false.

Do not turn me over to my enemies, ¹  for false witnesses who want to destroy me testify against me. ² 

Have you not seen a false vision and announced a lying omen when you say, “the Lord declares,” although I myself never spoke?

But those in Jerusalem ¹  will view it as a false omen. They have sworn solemn oaths, ²  but the king of Babylon ³  will accuse them of violations ⁴  in order to seize them. ⁵ 

Do not plan evil in your hearts against one another. Do not favor a false oath – these are all things that I hate,’ says the Lord.”

For out of the heart come evil ideas, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.

The ¹  chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were trying to find false testimony against Jesus so that they could put him to death.

They brought forward false witnesses who said, “This man does not stop saying things against this holy place ¹  and the law. ² 

or anything about which he swears falsely. ¹  He must restore it in full ²  and add one fifth to it; he must give it to its owner when he is found guilty. ³ 

while seeing false visions for you and reading lying omens for you ¹  – to place that sword ²  on the necks of the profane wicked, ³  whose day has come, the time of final punishment.

Now this matter arose ¹  because of the false brothers with false pretenses ²  who slipped in unnoticed to spy on ³  our freedom that we have in Christ Jesus, to make us slaves. ⁴ 

All this has happened to us, even though we have not rejected you ¹  or violated your covenant with us. ² 

The prophets prophesy lies. The priests exercise power by their own authority. ¹  And my people love to have it this way. But they will not be able to help you when the time of judgment comes! ² 

O Timothy, protect what has been entrusted to you. Avoid ¹  the profane chatter and absurdities ²  of so-called “knowledge.” ³ 

then this ¹  also would be iniquity to be judged, ²  for I would have been false ³  to God above.

(41:1) ¹  See, his expectation is wrong, ²  he is laid low even at the sight of it. ³ 

But I will not remove ¹  my loyal love from him, nor be unfaithful to my promise. ² 

Her prophets coat their messages with whitewash. ¹  They see false visions and announce lying omens for them, saying, ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says,’ when the Lord has not spoken.
