Then they told what had happened on the road, ¹  and how they recognized him ²  when he broke the bread.

When they got out on the beach, ¹  they saw a charcoal fire ready ²  with a fish placed on it, and bread.

Bread made without yeast must be eaten ¹  for seven days; ²  no bread made with yeast shall be seen ³  among you, and you must have no yeast among you within any of your borders.

Then King Zedekiah ordered that Jeremiah be committed to the courtyard of the guardhouse. He also ordered that a loaf of bread ¹  be given to him every day from the baker’s street until all the bread in the city was gone. So Jeremiah was kept ²  in the courtyard of the guardhouse.

“You must keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread. For seven days ¹  you must eat bread made without yeast, as I commanded you; do this ²  at the appointed time of the month Abib, for in the month Abib you came out of Egypt.

Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all share the one bread.

The earth, from which food comes, is overturned below as though by fire; ¹ 

I will abundantly supply what she needs; ¹  I will give her poor all the food they need. ² 

“Come, eat ¹  some of my food, and drink some of the wine I have mixed. ² 

A generous person ¹  will be blessed, ²  for he gives some of his food ³  to the poor.

For seven days ¹  you must eat ²  bread made without yeast, and on the seventh day there is to be ³  a festival to the Lord.

And on the fifteenth day of this month is the festival. For seven days bread made without yeast must be eaten.

They will ask you how you’re doing and will give you two loaves of bread. You will accept them.

To show partiality ¹  is terrible, ²  for a person will transgress over the smallest piece of bread. ³ 

Is ¹  there anyone among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?

When the disciples went to the other side, they forgot to take bread.

How could you not understand that I was not speaking to you about bread? But beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees!”

Then they understood that he had not told them to be on guard against the yeast in bread, but against the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

A person should examine himself first, ¹  and in this way ²  let him eat the bread and drink of the cup.

So then, let us celebrate the festival, not with the old yeast, the yeast of vice and evil, but with the bread without yeast, the bread of sincerity and truth. ¹
