“Blessed ¹  are the poor in spirit, ²  for the kingdom of heaven belongs ³  to them.

“Blessed ¹  are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered;

that the creation itself will also be set free from the bondage of decay into the glorious freedom of God’s children.

But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with endurance. ¹

Then you will find joy in your relationship to the Lord, ¹  and I will give you great prosperity, ²  and cause crops to grow on the land I gave to your ancestor Jacob.” ³  Know for certain that the Lord has spoken. ⁴ 

You assist ¹  those who delight in doing what is right, ²  who observe your commandments. ³  Look, you were angry because we violated them continually. How then can we be saved? ⁴ 

if it is exhortation, he must exhort; if it is contributing, he must do so with sincerity; if it is leadership, he must do so with diligence; if it is showing mercy, he must do so with cheerfulness.

Where then is your sense of happiness ¹  now? For I testify about you that if it were possible, you would have pulled out your eyes and given them to me!
