The north wind ¹  brings forth rain, and a gossiping tongue ²  brings forth ³  an angry look. ⁴ 

I reflected on everything that is accomplished by man ¹  on earth, ²  and I concluded: Everything ³  he has accomplished ⁴  is futile ⁵  – like chasing the wind! ⁶ 

And the men ¹  were amazed and said, ²  “What sort of person is this? Even the winds and the sea obey him!” ³ 

Meanwhile the boat, already far from land, ¹  was taking a beating from the waves because the wind was against it.

Then he went up with them into the boat, and the wind ceased. They were completely astonished,

And when you see the south wind ¹  blowing, you say, ‘There will be scorching heat,’ and there is.

Not long after this, a hurricane-force ¹  wind called the northeaster ²  blew down from the island. ³ 

So Moses extended his staff over the land of Egypt, and then the Lord ¹  brought ²  an east wind on the land all that day and all night. ³  The morning came, ⁴  and the east wind had brought up ⁵  the locusts!

After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth so no wind could blow on the earth, on the sea, or on any tree.

and the Lord turned a very strong west wind, ¹  and it picked up the locusts and blew them into the Red Sea. ²  Not one locust remained in all the territory of Egypt.

“How long will you speak these things, ¹  seeing ²  that the words of your mouth are like a great ³  wind? ⁴ 

“Does a wise man answer with blustery knowledge, ¹  or fill his belly ²  with the east wind? ³ 

The east wind carries him away, and he is gone; it sweeps him out of his place.

A tempest blows out from its chamber, icy cold from the driving winds. ¹ 

You, whose garments are hot when the earth is still because of the south wind,

But now, the sun ¹  cannot be looked at ²  – it is bright in the skies – after a wind passed and swept the clouds away. ³ 

Not so with the wicked! Instead ¹  they are like wind-driven chaff. ² 

I grind them as fine windblown dust; ¹  I beat them underfoot ²  like clay ³  in the streets.

O my God, make them like dead thistles, ¹  like dead weeds blown away by ²  the wind!

but when the hot wind ¹  blows by, it disappears, and one can no longer even spot the place where it once grew.
