You must not bring any abhorrent thing into your house and thereby become an object of divine wrath ¹  along with it. ²  You must absolutely detest ³  and abhor it, ⁴  for it is an object of divine wrath.

However, Saul and the army spared Agag, along with the best of the flock, the cattle, the fatlings, ¹  and the lambs, as well as everything else that was of value. ²  They were not willing to slaughter them. But they did slaughter everything that was despised ³  and worthless.

Do not treat prophecies with contempt.

“Whoever sacrifices to a god other than the Lord ¹  alone must be utterly destroyed. ² 

Whenever the Israelites were strong militarily, they forced the Canaanites to do hard labor, but they never totally conquered them. ¹ 

He captured King Agag of the Amalekites alive, but he executed all Agag’s people ¹  with the sword.

Will they not ¹  instruct you and ²  speak to you, and bring forth words ³  from their understanding? ⁴ 

The Lord thundered ¹  in ²  the sky; the sovereign One ³  shouted. ⁴ 

Nations are in uproar, kingdoms are overthrown. ¹  God ²  gives a shout, ³  the earth dissolves. ⁴ 

The earth is broken in pieces, the earth is ripped to shreds, the earth shakes violently. ¹ 

Even if the forest is destroyed ¹  and the city is annihilated, ² 

“I will destroy ¹  everything from the face of the earth,” says the Lord.

Every person ¹  who does not obey that prophet will be destroyed and thus removed ²  from the people.’ ³ 

was caught up into paradise ¹  and heard things too sacred to be put into words, ²  things that a person ³  is not permitted to speak.

“You must not bow down to their gods; you must not serve them or do according to their practices. Instead you must completely overthrow them and smash their standing stones ¹  to pieces. ² 

The Lord listened to the voice of Israel and delivered up the Canaanites, ¹  and they utterly destroyed them and their cities. So the name of the place was called ²  Hormah.

“And if she marries a husband while under a vow, ¹  or she uttered ²  anything impulsively by which she has pledged herself,

I replied, “How long, sovereign master?” He said, “Until cities are in ruins and unpopulated, and houses are uninhabited, and the land is ruined and devastated,

Surging waters cannot quench love; floodwaters ¹  cannot overflow it. If someone were to offer all his possessions ²  to buy love, ³  the offer ⁴  would be utterly despised. ⁵ 

A truthful witness ¹  does not lie, but a false witness ²  breathes out lies. ³
