His advisers ¹  said to him, “Look, we have heard that the kings of the Israelite dynasty are kind. ²  Allow us to put sackcloth around our waists and ropes on our heads ³  and surrender ⁴  to the king of Israel. Maybe he will spare our lives.”

So they put sackcloth around their waists and ropes on their heads and went to the king of Israel. They said, “Your servant ¹  Ben Hadad says, ‘Please let me live!’” Ahab ²  replied, “Is he still alive? He is my brother.” ³ 

So the officials ¹  took Jeremiah and put him in the cistern ²  of Malkijah, one of the royal princes, ³  that was in the courtyard of the guardhouse. There was no water in the cistern, only mud. So when they lowered Jeremiah into the cistern with ropes he sank in the mud. ⁴ 

Look here, I will tie you up with ropes, so you cannot turn from one side to the other until you complete the days of your siege. ¹ 

and the pillars of the courtyard all around, with their sockets, their pegs, and their ropes.

(40:25) ¹  “Can you pull in ²  Leviathan with a hook, and tie down ³  its tongue with a rope?

The ropes of the wicked tighten around ¹  me, but I do not forget your law.

but I was let down in a rope-basket ¹  through a window in the city wall, and escaped his hands.

After the crew ¹  had hoisted it aboard, ²  they used supports ³  to undergird the ship. Fearing they would run aground ⁴  on the Syrtis, ⁵  they lowered the sea anchor, ⁶  thus letting themselves be driven along.

She said, “I agree to these conditions.” ¹  She sent them on their way ²  and then tied the red rope in the window.

Look at Zion, the city where we hold religious festivals! You ¹  will see Jerusalem, ²  a peaceful settlement, a tent that stays put; ³  its stakes will never be pulled up; none of its ropes will snap in two.

But our tents have been destroyed. The ropes that held them in place have been ripped apart. ¹  Our children are gone and are not coming back. ²  There is no survivor to put our tents back up, no one left to hang their tent curtains in place.

They made for the breastpiece braided chains like cords of pure gold,

He loosens ¹  the bonds ²  of kings and binds a loincloth ³  around their waist.

The waves ¹  of death engulfed me, the currents ²  of chaos ³  overwhelmed me. ⁴ 

For I am oppressed and needy, and my heart beats violently within me. ¹ 

The Lord protects ¹  the untrained; ²  I was in serious trouble ³  and he delivered me.

The Lord is just; he cut the ropes of the wicked.” ¹ 

To impart ¹  shrewdness ²  to the morally naive, ³  and ⁴  a discerning ⁵  plan ⁶  to the young person. ⁷ 

the hangings of the courtyard, its posts and its bases, and the curtain for the gateway of the courtyard, its ropes and its tent pegs, and all the furnishings ¹  for the service of the tabernacle, for the tent of meeting;
