Then ¹  Joshua read aloud all the words of the law, including the blessings and the curses, just as they are written in the law scroll.

“Remember the law of my servant Moses, to whom at Horeb ¹  I gave rules and regulations for all Israel to obey. ² 

But rejoice in the degree that you have shared in the sufferings of Christ, so that when his glory is revealed ¹  you may also rejoice and be glad. ² 

This is the law that Moses set before the Israelites. ¹ 

You must inscribe on the stones all the words of this law, making them clear.”

Moses delivered to us a law, ¹  an inheritance for the assembly of Jacob.

When they heard the law, they removed from Israel all who were of mixed ancestry.

Then he gives a revelation ¹  to people, and terrifies them with warnings, ² 

Remove me from the path of deceit! ¹  Graciously give me ²  your law!

I remember your name during the night, O Lord, and I will keep ¹  your law.

Their hearts are calloused, ¹  but I find delight in your law.

ס (Samek) I hate people with divided loyalties, ¹  but I love your law.

It is time for the Lord to act – they break your law!

Your justice endures, ¹  and your law is reliable. ² 

What follows is divine revelation. ¹  The word of the Lord came to Israel through Malachi: ² 

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. ¹ 

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

It will be the same on the day the Son of Man is revealed.

Now the boy Samuel continued serving the Lord under Eli’s supervision. ¹  Word from the Lord was rare in those days; revelatory visions were infrequent.

not to be easily ¹  shaken from your composure or disturbed by any kind of spirit or message or letter allegedly from us, ²  to the effect that the day of the Lord is already here.
