One statute must apply ¹  to you who belong to the congregation and to the resident foreigner who is living among you, as a permanent ²  statute for your future generations. You and the resident foreigner will be alike ³  before the Lord.

David ordered the resident foreigners in the land of Israel to be called together. He appointed some of them to be stonecutters to chisel stones for the building of God’s temple.

“‘If your brother ¹  becomes impoverished and is indebted to you, ²  you must support ³  him; he must live ⁴  with you like a foreign resident. ⁵ 

If a resident foreigner lives ¹  among you and wants to keep ²  the Passover to the Lord, he must do so according to the statute of the Passover, and according to its custom. You must have ³  the same ⁴  statute for the resident foreigner ⁵  and for the one who was born in the land.’”

Abraham journeyed from there to the Negev ¹  region and settled between Kadesh and Shur. While he lived as a temporary resident ²  in Gerar,

who justly treats ¹  the orphan and widow, and who loves resident foreigners, giving them food and clothing.

There was a young man from Bethlehem ¹  in Judah. He was a Levite who had been temporarily residing among the tribe of Judah. ² 

if ¹  iniquity is in your hand – put it far away, ²  and do not let evil reside in your tents.

No resident of Zion ¹  will say, “I am ill”; the people who live there will have their sin forgiven.

Don’t prophesy at Bethel ¹  any longer, for a royal temple and palace are here!” ² 

Now there were devout Jews ¹  from every nation under heaven residing in Jerusalem. ² 

All ¹  those who lived in Lydda ²  and Sharon ³  saw him, and they ⁴  turned ⁵  to the Lord.

When we heard this, both we and the local people ¹  begged him not to go up to Jerusalem.

So Abraham stayed in the land of the Philistines for quite some time. ¹ 

A foreigner and a hired worker must not eat it.

I will reside ¹  among the Israelites, and I will be their God,

They kill the widow and the one residing outside his native land, and they murder the fatherless. ¹ 

And we have come to know and to believe ¹  the love that God has in us. ²  God is love, and the one who resides ³  in love resides in God, and God resides in him.

These six towns will be places of refuge for the Israelites, and for the foreigner, and for the settler among them, so that anyone who kills any person accidentally may flee there.

Suppose a Levite comes by his own free will ¹  from one of your villages, from any part of Israel where he is living, ²  to the place the Lord chooses
