You will not be afraid ¹  of sudden ²  disaster, ³  or when destruction overtakes ⁴  the wicked; ⁵ 

¹ This is a message about Babylon that God revealed to Isaiah son of Amoz: ² 

All nations gather together, the peoples assemble. Who among them announced this? Who predicted earlier events for us? ¹  Let them produce their witnesses to testify they were right; let them listen and affirm, ‘It is true.’

Then the seven years of famine began, ¹  just as Joseph had predicted. There was famine in all the other lands, but throughout the land of Egypt there was food.

But the magicians of Egypt did the same ¹  by their secret arts, and so ²  Pharaoh’s heart remained hard, ³  and he refused to listen to Moses and Aaron ⁴  – just as the Lord had predicted.

But when Pharaoh saw that there was relief, ¹  he hardened ²  his heart and did not listen to them, just as the Lord had predicted. ³ 

The magicians said ¹  to Pharaoh, “It is the finger ²  of God!” But Pharaoh’s heart remained hard, ³  and he did not listen to them, just as the Lord had predicted.

But the Lord hardened ¹  Pharaoh’s heart, and he did not listen to them, just as the Lord had predicted to Moses.

So Pharaoh’s heart remained hard, ¹  and he did not release the Israelites, as the Lord had predicted through Moses.

Look, my earlier predictive oracles have come to pass; ¹  now I announce new events. Before they begin to occur, I reveal them to you.” ² 

“I announced events beforehand, ¹  I issued the decrees and made the predictions; ²  suddenly I acted and they came to pass.

“‘You must not eat anything with the blood still in it. ¹  You must not practice either divination or soothsaying. ² 

until the time when his prediction ¹  came true. The Lord’s word ²  proved him right. ³ 

Here is a message about Damascus: “Look, Damascus is no longer a city, it is a heap of ruins!

Here is a message about Arabia: In the thicket of Arabia you spend the night, you Dedanite caravans.

Here is a message about the Valley of Vision: ¹  What is the reason ²  that all of you go up to the rooftops?

The prophets will prove to be full of wind. ¹  The Lord has not spoken through them. ²  So, let what they say happen to them.’”

They will know that I am the Lord; my threats to bring this catastrophe on them were not empty.’ ¹ 

For there will no longer be any false visions or flattering omens amidst the house of Israel.

Israel cries out to me, “My God, we acknowledge you!”
