He let no one oppress them, he disciplined kings for their sake,

And when the grain is ripe, he sends in the sickle ¹  because the harvest has come.” ² 

So ¹  Jesus asked ²  the experts in religious law ³  and the Pharisees, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath ⁴  or not?”

Then ¹  the fourth angel ²  poured out his bowl on the sun, and it was permitted to scorch people ³  with fire.

You may eat any clean bird.

But ¹  Jesus ²  did not permit him to do so. Instead, he said to him, “Go to your home and to your people and tell them what the Lord has done for you, ³  that he had mercy on you.”

but your father has humiliated ¹  me and changed my wages ten times. But God has not permitted him to do me any harm.

Now a large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside, ¹  and the demonic spirits ²  begged Jesus ³  to let them go into them. He gave them permission. ⁴ 

Pilate told them, ¹  “Take him yourselves and pass judgment on him ²  according to your own law!” ³  The Jewish leaders ⁴  replied, ⁵  “We cannot legally put anyone to death.” ⁶ 

When we entered Rome, Paul was allowed to live ¹  by himself, with the soldier who was guarding him.

The beast ¹  was permitted to go to war against the saints and conquer them. ²  He was given ruling authority ³  over every tribe, people, ⁴  language, and nation,

She was permitted to be dressed in bright, clean, fine linen” ¹  (for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints). ² 

For the Lord will pass through to strike Egypt, and when he sees ¹  the blood on the top of the doorframe and the two side posts, then the Lord will pass over the door, and he will not permit the destroyer ²  to enter your houses to strike you. ³ 

We sailed slowly ¹  for many days and arrived with difficulty off Cnidus. ²  Because the wind prevented us from going any farther, ³  we sailed under the lee ⁴  of Crete off Salmone. ⁵ 

But Simeon and Levi replied, ¹  “Should he treat our sister like a common prostitute?”

I will have nothing to do with a perverse person; ¹  I will not permit ²  evil.

I will not allow my eyes to sleep, or my eyelids to slumber,

Permit no sleep to your eyes ¹  or slumber to your eyelids.

For none of us lives for himself and none dies for himself.

For when the priesthood changes, a change in the law must come ¹  as well.
