A fool’s annoyance ¹  is known at once, ²  but the prudent ³  overlooks ⁴  an insult.

You also lived your lives ¹  in this way at one time, when you used to live among them.

The Philistines again raided the valley.

א (Alef) ^{1  2} Alas! ³  The city once full of people ⁴  now sits all alone! ⁵  The prominent ⁶  lady among the nations has become a widow! ⁷  The princess ⁸  who once ruled the provinces ⁹  has become a forced laborer!

How deserted will that once-famous city ¹  be, that city that was once filled with ²  joy! ³ 

For the death he died, he died to sin once for all, but the life he lives, he lives to God.

For otherwise would they not have ceased to be offered, since the worshipers would have been purified once for all and so have ¹  no further consciousness of sin?

Then his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “I will once more shake not only the earth but heaven too.” ¹ 

He has no need to do every day what those priests do, to offer sacrifices first for their own sins and then for the sins of the people, since he did this in offering himself once for all.

But only the high priest enters once a year into the inner tent, ¹  and not without blood that he offers for himself and for the sins of the people committed in ignorance. ² 

So now, forgive my sin this time only, and pray to the Lord your God that he would only ¹  take this death ²  away from me.”

How tragic that the once-faithful city has become a prostitute! ¹  She was once a center of ²  justice, fairness resided in her, but now only murderers. ³ 

Moreover, the Lord who rules over all says: ‘In just a little while ¹  I will once again shake the sky ²  and the earth, the sea and the dry ground.

Now this phrase “once more” indicates the removal of what is shaken, that is, of created things, so that what is unshaken may remain.

Immediately I was in the Spirit, ¹  and ²  a throne was standing ³  in heaven with someone seated on it!

Samson called to the Lord, “O Master, Lord, ¹  remember me! Strengthen me just one more time, O God, so I can get swift revenge ²  against the Philistines for my two eyes!”

Along with Hiram’s fleet, the king had a fleet of large merchant ships ¹  that sailed the sea. Once every three years the fleet ²  came into port with cargoes of ³  gold, silver, ivory, apes, and peacocks. ⁴
