So he said, “Come.” Peter got out of the boat, walked on the water, and came toward Jesus.

When they saw him walking on the water ¹  they thought he was a ghost. They ²  cried out,

I did not recognize ¹  him, but I came baptizing with water so that he could be revealed to Israel.” ² 

Now there were six stone water jars there for Jewish ceremonial washing, ¹  each holding twenty or thirty gallons. ² 

Then the woman left her water jar, went off into the town and said to the people, ¹ 

But one of the soldiers pierced ¹  his side with a spear, and blood and water ²  flowed out immediately.

For ¹  John baptized with water, but you ²  will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

Through these things ¹  the world existing at that time was destroyed when it was deluged with water.

When ¹  the disciples saw him walking on the water ²  they were terrified and said, “It’s a ghost!” and cried out with fear.

and said, “Lord, have mercy on my son, because he has seizures ¹  and suffers terribly, for he often falls into the fire and into the water.

And just as Jesus ¹  was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens ²  splitting apart and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. ³ 

It has often thrown him into fire or water to destroy him. But if you are able to do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”

For I tell you the truth, ¹  whoever gives you a cup of water because ²  you bear Christ’s ³  name will never lose his reward.

He sent two of his disciples and told them, “Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar ¹  of water will meet you. Follow him.

When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water and lower ¹  your nets for a catch.”

Jesus answered, “I tell you the solemn truth, ¹  unless a person is born of water and spirit, ²  he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

John ¹  was also baptizing at Aenon near Salim, ²  because water was plentiful there, and people were coming ³  to him ⁴  and being baptized.

“Sir,” ¹  the woman ²  said to him, “you have no bucket and the well ³  is deep; where then do you get this ⁴  living water? ⁵ 

Now he came again to Cana ¹  in Galilee where he had made the water wine. ²  In ³  Capernaum ⁴  there was a certain royal official ⁵  whose son was sick.

let the one who believes in me drink. ¹  Just as the scripture says, ‘From within him ²  will flow rivers of living water.’” ³
