Then if ¹  it bears fruit next year, ²  very well, ³  but if ⁴  not, you can cut it down.’”

That very day Herod and Pilate became friends with each other, ¹  for prior to this they had been enemies. ² 

Jesus told the servants, ¹  “Fill the water jars with water.” So they filled them up to the very top.

At that very moment, ¹  three men sent to me from Caesarea ²  approached ³  the house where we were staying. ⁴ 

As ¹  I was en route and near Damascus, ²  about noon a very bright ³  light from heaven ⁴  suddenly flashed ⁵  around me.

“While doing this very thing, ¹  as I was going ²  to Damascus with authority and complete power ³  from the chief priests,

and I died. So ¹  I found that the very commandment that was intended to bring life brought death! ² 

For I do not do the good I want, but I do the very evil I do not want!

They requested ¹  only that we remember the poor, the very thing I also was eager to do.

Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their grandeur. ¹ 

When ¹  his fellow slaves saw what had happened, they were very upset and went and told their lord everything that had taken place.

A ¹  very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road. Others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.

When it was already late, his disciples came to him and said, “This is an isolated place ¹  and it is already very late.

Jesus said to him, “I tell you the truth, ¹  today – this very night – before a rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.”

At that very time ¹  Jesus ²  cured many people of diseases, sicknesses, ³  and evil spirits, and granted ⁴  sight to many who were blind.

But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life ¹  will be demanded back from ²  you, but who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ ³ 

And the king ¹  said to him, ‘Well done, good slave! Because you have been faithful ²  in a very small matter, you will have authority ³  over ten cities.’

Now ¹  that very day two of them ²  were on their way to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles ³  from Jerusalem. ⁴ 

So ¹  they got up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem. ²  They ³  found the eleven and those with them gathered together

Then the father realized that it was the very time ¹  Jesus had said to him, “Your son will live,” and he himself believed along with his entire household.
