Laban said, “This pile of stones is a witness of our agreement ¹  today.” That is why it was called Galeed.

“You are to take two onyx stones and engrave on them the names of the sons of Israel, ¹ 

The leaders brought onyx stones and other gems to be mounted ¹  for the ephod and the breastpiece,

and in cutting stones for their setting, ¹  and in cutting wood, to do work in every artistic craft. ² 

There, in the presence of the Israelites, Joshua inscribed on the stones a duplicate of the law written by Moses. ¹ 

Joshua said, “Roll large stones over the mouth of the cave and post guards in front of it. ¹ 

By royal order ¹  they supplied large valuable stones in order to build the temple’s foundation with chiseled stone.

He built the inner courtyard with three rows of chiseled stones and a row of cedar beams.

as water wears away stones, and torrents ¹  wash away the soil, ²  so you destroy man’s hope. ³

One who quarries stones may be injured by them; one who splits logs may be endangered by them.

They set the onyx stones in gold filigree settings, engraved as with the engravings of a seal ¹  with the names of the sons of Israel. ² 

He put ¹  them on the shoulder pieces of the ephod as stones of memorial for the Israelites, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.

They set on it ¹  four rows of stones: a row with a ruby, a topaz, and a beryl – the first row;

then the priest is to command that the stones that had the infection in them be pulled and thrown ¹  outside the city ²  into an unclean place.

“If the infection returns and breaks out in the house after he has pulled out the stones, scraped the house, and it is replastered, ¹

When you cross the Jordan River ¹  to the land the Lord your God is giving you, you must erect great stones and cover ²  them with plaster.
