For David himself says in the book of Psalms, ‘The Lord said to my ¹  lord, “Sit at my right hand,

Surely he loves the people; ¹  all your holy ones ²  are in your power. ³  And they sit ⁴  at your feet, each receiving ⁵  your words.

You who ride on light-colored female donkeys, who sit on saddle blankets, ¹  you who walk on the road, pay attention!

Nathan said, “My master, O king, did you announce, ‘Adonijah will be king after me; he will sit on my throne’?

How blessed ²  is the one ³  who does not follow ⁴  the advice ⁵  of the wicked, ⁶  or stand in the pathway ⁷  with sinners, or sit in the assembly ⁸  of scoffers! ⁹ 

A psalm of David. Here is the Lord’s proclamation ²  to my lord: ³  “Sit down at my right hand ⁴  until I make your enemies your footstool!” ⁵ 

If your sons keep my covenant and the rules I teach them, their sons will also sit on your throne forever.”

“Sit silently! Go to a hiding place, ¹  O daughter of the Babylonians! Indeed, ²  you will no longer be called ‘Queen of kingdoms.’

They sit among the tombs ¹  and keep watch all night long. ²  They eat pork, ³  and broth ⁴  from unclean sacrificial meat is in their pans.

They said to him, “Please sit down and read it to us.” So Baruch sat down and read it to them. ¹

My enemies, ¹  do not gloat ²  over me! Though I have fallen, I will get up. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light. ³ 

And such a large crowd gathered around him that he got into a boat to sit while ¹  the whole crowd stood on the shore.

“When ¹  the Son of Man comes in his glory and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne.

Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.”

They said to him, “Permit one of us to sit at your right hand and the other at your left in your glory.”

but to sit at my right or at my left is not mine to give. It is for those for whom it has been prepared.” ¹ 

David himself, by the Holy Spirit, said, ‘The Lord said to my lord, ¹  “Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet.”’ ²
