Many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ ¹  and they will mislead many.

Suddenly ¹  a vast, heavenly army ²  appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

Jesus ¹  sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover ²  for us to eat.” ³ 

and saying, “If ¹  you are the king of the Jews, save yourself!”

and ¹  saying, “The Lord has really risen, and has appeared to Simon!” ² 

Jesus replied, ¹  “Woman, ²  why are you saying this to me? ³  My time ⁴  has not yet come.”

For in this instance the saying is true, ¹  ‘One sows and another reaps.’

While he was saying these things, many people ¹  believed in him.

They ¹  heaped insults ²  on him, saying, ³  “You are his disciple! ⁴  We are disciples of Moses!

Jesus told them this parable, ¹  but they ²  did not understand ³  what he was saying to them.

All were astounded and greatly confused, saying to one another, “What does this mean?”

But others jeered at the speakers, ¹  saying, “They are drunk on new wine!” ² 

With many other words he testified ¹  and exhorted them saying, “Save yourselves from this perverse ²  generation!”

But Peter helped him up, ¹  saying, “Stand up. I too am a mere mortal.” ² 

saying, “You went to ¹  uncircumcised men and shared a meal with ²  them.”

But Peter began and explained it to them point by point, ¹  saying,

I also heard a voice saying to me, ‘Get up, Peter; slaughter ¹  and eat!’

Even by saying ¹  these things, they scarcely persuaded ²  the crowds not to offer sacrifice to them.

At daybreak ¹  the magistrates ²  sent their police officers, ³  saying, “Release those men.”

saying, “This man is persuading ¹  people to worship God in a way contrary to ²  the law!”
