When the woman saw Samuel, she cried out loudly. ¹  The woman said to Saul, “Why have you deceived me? You are Saul!”

The Philistines stayed right on the heels ¹  of Saul and his sons. They ²  struck down Saul’s sons Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malki-Shua.

As the war continued between the house of Saul and the house of David, Abner was becoming more influential ¹  in the house of Saul.

Ner was the father of Kish, and Kish was the father of Saul. Saul was the father of Jonathan, Malki-Shua, Abinadab, and Eshbaal. ¹ 

Ner was the father of Kish, and Kish was the father of Saul. Saul was the father of Jonathan, Malki-Shua, Abinadab, and Eshbaal. ¹ 

The Philistines stayed right on the heels of ¹  Saul and his sons. They ²  struck down Saul’s ³  sons Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malki-Shua.

From Benjamin, Saul’s tribe, ¹  there were 3,000, most of whom, up to that time, had been loyal to Saul. ² 

Now the day before Saul arrived, the Lord had told ¹  Samuel:

When Saul ¹  had finished prophesying, he went to the high place.

Saul’s uncle said, “Tell me what Samuel said to you.” ¹ 

Saul said, “God will punish me severely if Jonathan doesn’t die!” ¹ 

Then Saul stopped chasing the Philistines, and the Philistines went back home. ¹ 

Saul proceeded to the city ¹  of Amalek, where he set an ambush ²  in the wadi. ³ 

When Samuel turned to leave, Saul ¹  grabbed the edge of his robe and it tore.

Now David was the youngest. While the three oldest sons followed Saul,

When David’s words were overheard and reported to Saul, he called for him. ¹ 

So Saul was keeping an eye on David from that day onward.

When Saul saw how very successful he was, he was afraid of him.

When Saul realized ¹  that the Lord was with David and that his ²  daughter Michal loved David, ³ 

When Saul sent messengers to arrest David, she said, “He’s sick.”
