Do not be angry and frustrated! ¹  Do not fret! That only leads to trouble!

But now, O Lord, upon what am I relying? You are my only hope! ¹ 

If only ¹  you would kill the wicked, O God! Get away from me, you violent men! ² 

When I was a son to my father, ¹  a tender only child ²  before my mother,

With pride ¹  comes only ²  contention, but wisdom is with the well-advised. ³ 

In all hard work ¹  there is profit, but merely talking about it ²  only brings ³  poverty. ⁴ 

An evil person seeks only rebellion, ¹  and so ²  a cruel messenger ³  will be sent against him.

A fool takes no pleasure ¹  in understanding but only in disclosing ²  what is on his mind. ³ 

so is a person ¹  who deceives his neighbor, and says, “Was I not only joking?” ² 

There is only cursing, lying, murder, stealing, and adultery. They resort to violence and bloodshed. ¹ 

Threshing floors and wine vats will not feed the people, ¹  and new wine only deceives them. ² 

And all the Israelites murmured ¹  against Moses and Aaron, and the whole congregation said to them, “If only we had died ²  in the land of Egypt, or if only we had perished ³  in this wilderness!

The priest replied to David, “I don’t have any ordinary bread at my disposal. Only holy bread is available, and then only if your soldiers ¹  have abstained from sexual relations with women.” ² 

All Israel will mourn him and bury him. He is the only one in Jeroboam’s family ¹  who will receive a decent burial, for he is the only one in whom the Lord God of Israel found anything good.

The sovereign Lord says this: “The city that marches out with a thousand soldiers ¹  will have only a hundred left; the town ²  that marches out with a hundred soldiers ³  will have only ten left for the family of Israel.” ⁴ 

From that time ¹  when one came expecting a heap of twenty measures, there were only ten; when one came to the wine vat to draw out fifty measures from it, there were only twenty.

The people contended ¹  with Moses, saying, ²  “If only ³  we had died when our brothers died before the Lord!

Revere the Lord your God, serve him, be loyal to him and take oaths only in his name.

When the Philistine looked carefully at David, he despised him, for he was only a ruddy and handsome boy.

(Now the servant did not understand any of this. Only Jonathan and David knew what was going on.) ¹
