None who go in to her will return, ¹  nor will they reach the paths of life. ² 

for riches do not last ¹  forever, nor does a crown last ²  from generation to generation.

I have not learned wisdom, nor do I have knowledge ¹  of the Holy One. ² 

Do not give your strength ¹  to women, nor your ways ²  to that which ruins ³  kings.

Now Mephibosheth, Saul’s grandson, ¹  came down to meet the king. From the day the king had left until the day he safely ²  returned, Mephibosheth ³  had not cared for his feet ⁴  nor trimmed ⁵  his mustache nor washed his clothes.

Neither he nor any of his attendants showed any alarm when they heard all that had been read. Nor did they tear their clothes to show any grief or sorrow. ¹ 

This happened because of the wickedness the people living there did. ¹  They made me angry ²  by worshiping and offering sacrifice to ³  other gods whom neither they nor you nor your ancestors ⁴  previously knew. ⁵ 

As for your birth, on the day you were born your umbilical cord was not cut, nor were you washed in water; ¹  you were certainly not rubbed down with salt, nor wrapped with blankets. ² 

Hear the word of the Lord, you Israelites! ¹  For the Lord has a covenant lawsuit ²  against the people of Israel. ³  For there is neither faithfulness nor loyalty in the land, nor do they acknowledge God. ⁴ 

“You must not wrong ¹  a foreigner ²  nor oppress him, for you were foreigners in the land of Egypt.

There you will worship gods made by human hands – wood and stone that can neither see, hear, eat, nor smell.

Then they must proclaim, “Our hands have not spilled this blood, nor have we ¹  witnessed the crime. ² 

“This commandment I am giving ¹  you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it too remote.

Moses was 120 years old when he died, but his eye was not dull ¹  nor had his vitality ²  departed.

That day ¹  – let it be darkness; ²  let not God on high regard ³  it, nor let light shine ⁴  on it!

For evil does not come up from the dust, ¹  nor does trouble spring up from the ground,

He returns no more to his house, nor does his place of residence ¹  know him ²  any more.

“Surely, God does not reject a blameless man, ¹  nor does he grasp the hand ²  of the evildoers.

He will not grow rich, and his wealth will not endure, nor will his possessions ¹  spread over the land.

“O earth, do not cover my blood, ¹  nor let there be a secret ²  place for my cry.
