“If you have ¹  understanding, listen to this, hear what I have to say. ² 

It scorns the tumult in the town; it does not hear the shouts of a driver. ¹ 

When they hear of my exploits, they submit to me. ¹  Foreigners are powerless ²  before me;

Hear me, ¹  O Lord, when I cry out! Have mercy on me and answer me!

Hear, O Lord, and have mercy on me! O Lord, deliver me!” ¹ 

I will boast ¹  in the Lord; let the oppressed hear and rejoice! ² 

I am like a man who cannot hear and is incapable of arguing his defense. ¹ 

During the evening, morning, and noontime I will lament and moan, ¹  and he will hear ²  me. ³ 

Their venom is like that of a snake, ¹  like a deaf serpent ²  that does not hear, ³ 

O Lord, sovereign God, ¹  hear my prayer! Listen, O God of Jacob! (Selah)

O Lord, hear my prayer! Pay attention to my plea for mercy!

(Let the wise also ¹  hear ²  and gain ³  instruction, and let the discerning ⁴  acquire ⁵  guidance! ⁶ )

Indeed, they will hear meaningless gibberish, senseless babbling, a syllable here, a syllable there. ¹ 

Before they even call out, ¹  I will respond; while they are still speaking, I will hear.

Jesus answered them, ¹  “Go tell John what you hear and see: ² 

He will not quarrel or cry out, nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets.

“But your eyes are blessed ¹  because they see, and your ears because they hear.

And he said, “Whoever has ears to hear had better listen!” ¹ 

Others are the ones sown among thorns: They are those who hear the word,

But he replied, ¹  “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey ²  it!”
