(Now Jesus had been talking about ¹  his death, but they ²  thought he had been talking about real sleep.) ³ 

Then many of the people, ¹  who had come with Mary and had seen the things Jesus ²  did, believed in him.

Because they had heard that Jesus ¹  had performed this miraculous sign, the crowd went out to meet him.

And because they saw the man who had been healed standing with them, they had nothing to say against this. ¹ 

Now when ¹  Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus ²  had been condemned, he regretted what he had done and returned the thirty silver coins to the chief priests and the elders,

So when he came to Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him because they had seen all the things he had done in Jerusalem ¹  at the feast ²  (for they themselves had gone to the feast). ³ 

Now the Jewish religious leaders ¹  refused to believe ²  that he had really been blind and had gained his sight until at last they summoned ³  the parents of the man who had become able to see. ⁴ 

When ¹  his fellow slaves saw what had happened, they were very upset and went and told their lord everything that had taken place.

Now the ones who had arrested Jesus led him to Caiaphas, the high priest, in whose house ¹  the experts in the law ²  and the elders had gathered.

Those who had seen what had happened to the demon-possessed man reported it, and they also told about the pigs.

For Herod himself had sent men, arrested John, and bound him in prison on account of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, because Herod ¹  had married her.

For they all gave out of their wealth. ¹  But she, out of her poverty, put in what she had to live on, everything she had.” ² 

When he was in Galilee, they had followed him and given him support. ¹  Many other women who had come up with him to Jerusalem ²  were there too.

So ¹  the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising ²  God for all they had heard and seen; everything was just as they had been told. ³ 

It ¹  had been revealed ²  to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die ³  before ⁴  he had seen the Lord’s Christ. ⁵ 

and also some women ¹  who had been healed of evil spirits and disabilities: ²  Mary ³  (called Magdalene), from whom seven demons had gone out,

while others were saying that Elijah ¹  had appeared, and still others that one of the prophets of long ago had risen. ² 

After ¹  the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. So ²  they kept silent and told no one ³  at that time ⁴  anything of what they had seen.

And all the crowds that had assembled for this spectacle, when they saw what had taken place, returned home beating their breasts. ¹ 

So after he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the scripture ¹  and the saying ²  that Jesus had spoken.
