If those people to whom the word of God came were called ‘gods’ (and the scripture cannot be broken), ¹ 

Now we know that God’s judgment is in accordance with truth ¹  against those who practice such things.

For this reason you also pay taxes, for the authorities ¹  are God’s servants devoted to governing. ² 

so that by God’s will I may come to you with joy and be refreshed in your company.

Formerly when you did not know God, you were enslaved to beings that by nature are not gods at all. ¹ 

if indeed ¹  you have heard of the stewardship ²  of God’s grace that was given to me for you,

For this is God’s will: that you become holy, ¹  that you keep away from sexual immorality,

who gave himself as a ransom for all, revealing God’s purpose at his appointed time. ¹ 

who is faithful to the one who appointed him, as Moses was also in God’s ¹  house. ² 

but only a certain fearful expectation of judgment and a fury ¹  of fire that will consume God’s enemies. ² 

For you need endurance in order to do God’s will and so receive what is promised. ¹ 

With it we bless the Lord ¹  and Father, and with it we curse people ²  made in God’s image.

Live ¹  as free people, not using your freedom as a pretext for evil, but as God’s slaves. ² 

For this finds God’s favor, ¹  if because of conscience toward God ²  someone endures hardships in suffering unjustly.

and saying, “You who can destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! ¹  If you are God’s Son, come down ²  from the cross!”

He trusts in God – let God, if he wants to, deliver him now ¹  because he said, ‘I am God’s Son’!”

Now when the centurion, ¹  who stood in front of him, saw how he died, ²  he said, “Truly this man was God’s Son!”

(Now ¹  all the people who heard this, even the tax collectors, ²  acknowledged ³  God’s justice, because they had been baptized ⁴  with John’s baptism.

However, the Pharisees ¹  and the experts in religious law ²  rejected God’s purpose ³  for themselves, because they had not been baptized ⁴  by John. ⁵ ) ⁶ 

In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels ¹  over one sinner who repents.”
