Does not the ear test words, as ¹  the tongue ²  tastes food? ³ 

he wanders about – food for vultures; ¹  he knows that the day of darkness is at hand. ² 

his food is turned sour ¹  in his stomach; ²  it becomes the venom of serpents ³  within him.

You gave the weary ¹  no water to drink and from the hungry you withheld food.

The earth, from which food comes, is overturned below as though by fire; ¹ 

so that his life loathes food, and his soul rejects appetizing fare. ¹ 

It is by these that he judges ¹  the nations and supplies food in abundance.

For the hills bring it food, ¹  where all the wild animals play.
