and that we may be delivered from perverse and evil people. For not all have faith.

If so, have you not made distinctions ¹  among yourselves and become judges with evil motives? ² 

For where there is jealousy and selfishness, there is disorder and every evil practice.

But as it is, ¹  you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.

So get rid of ¹  all evil and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander.

because the person who gives him a greeting shares in his evil deeds. ¹ 

not like Cain ¹  who was of the evil one and brutally ²  murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his deeds were evil, but his brother’s were righteous.

Let your word be ‘Yes, yes’ or ‘No, no.’ More than this is from the evil one. ¹ 

But if ¹  that evil slave should say to himself, ²  ‘My master is staying away a long time,’

The world cannot hate you, but it hates me, because I am testifying about it that its deeds are evil.

When his accusers stood up, they did not charge ¹  him with any of the evil deeds I had suspected. ² 

There will be ¹  affliction and distress on everyone ²  who does evil, on the Jew first and also the Greek, ³ 

For I do not do the good I want, but I do the very evil I do not want!

So, I find the law that when I want to do good, evil is present with me.

These things happened as examples for us, so that we will not crave evil things as they did.

And you were at one time strangers and enemies in your ¹  minds ²  as expressed through ³  your evil deeds,

And so ¹  all of them who have not believed the truth but have delighted in evil will be condemned. ² 

But the Lord is faithful, and he ¹  will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.

But evil people and charlatans will go from bad to worse, ¹  deceiving others and being deceived themselves. ² 

See to it, ¹  brothers and sisters, ²  that none of you has ³  an evil, unbelieving heart that forsakes ⁴  the living God. ⁵
