They worshiped ¹  Baal of Peor, and ate sacrifices offered to the dead. ² 

Our forefathers ¹  sinned and are dead, ²  but we ³  suffer ⁴  their punishment. ⁵ 

You will fall dead in the open field; for I have spoken, declares the sovereign Lord.

The filthy, ¹  stained city is as good as dead; the city filled with oppressors is finished! ² 

Heal the sick, raise the dead, ¹  cleanse lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give.

The ¹  guards were shaken and became like dead men because they were so afraid of him.

They kept this statement to themselves, discussing what this rising from the dead meant.

He is not the God of the dead but of the living. ¹  You are badly mistaken!”

And they began making fun ¹  of him, because they knew ²  that she was dead. ³ 

(For they did not yet understand ¹  the scripture that Jesus ²  must rise from the dead.) ³ 

angry ¹  because they were teaching the people and announcing ²  in Jesus the resurrection of the dead.

Why do you people ¹  think ²  it is unbelievable ³  that ⁴  God raises the dead?

So you too consider yourselves ¹  dead to sin, but ²  alive to God in Christ Jesus.

or “Who will descend into the abyss?” ¹  (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).

That is why many of you are weak and sick, and quite a few are dead. ¹ 

But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised.

For if the dead are not raised, then not even Christ has been raised.

and so, somehow, ¹  to attain to the resurrection from the dead.

But the one who lives for pleasure is dead even ¹  while she lives.

Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, a descendant of David; ¹  such is my gospel, ²
