when the waters become hard ¹  like stone, when the surface of the deep is frozen solid?

Arrows ¹  do not make it flee; slingstones become like chaff to it.

How desolate they become in a mere moment! Terrifying judgments make their demise complete! ¹ 

Then I said, “I am sickened by the thought that the sovereign One ¹  might become inactive. ² 

The Lord gives me strength and protects me; ¹  he has become my deliverer.” ² 

I will give you thanks, for you answered me, and have become my deliverer.

The diligent ¹  person ²  will rule, but the slothful ³  will become a slave. ⁴

But its swamps and its marshes will not become fresh; they will remain salty.

At the celebration ¹  of their king, ²  his princes become inflamed ³  with wine; they conspire ⁴  with evildoers.

Although Ephraim has built many altars for sin offerings, these have become altars for sinning!

The earth will become desolate ¹  because of what its inhabitants have done. ² 

But Ruth replied, “Stop urging me to abandon you! ¹  For wherever you go, I will go. Wherever you live, I will live. Your people will become my people, and your God will become my God.

If he is able to fight with me and strike me down, we will become your servants. But if I prevail against him and strike him down, you will become our servants and will serve us.”

I will become his father and he will become my son. When he sins, I will correct him with the rod of men and with wounds inflicted by human beings.
