But Jesus came and touched them. “Get up,” he said. “Do not be afraid.”

The ¹  guards were shaken and became like dead men because they were so afraid of him.

(For they were afraid, and he did not know what to say.) ¹ 

But they did not understand this statement and were afraid to ask him.

But he said to them, “It is I. Do not be afraid.”

When Pilate heard what they said, ¹  he was more afraid than ever, ² 

Do not be afraid of the king of Babylon whom you now fear. ¹  Do not be afraid of him because I will be with you to save you and to rescue you from his power. I, the Lord, affirm it! ² 

Then Sarah lied, saying, “I did not laugh,” because she was afraid. But the Lord said, “No! You did laugh.” ¹ 

Thus all Israel will hear and be afraid; no longer will they continue to do evil like this among you. ¹ 

The rest of the people will hear and become afraid to keep doing such evil among you.

The Lord said to him, “You are safe! ¹  Do not be afraid! You are not going to die!”

When Saul and all the Israelites ¹  heard these words of the Philistine, they were upset and very afraid.

When all the men of Israel saw this man, they retreated ¹  from his presence and were very afraid.

Saul became even more afraid of him. ¹  Saul continued to be at odds with David from then on. ² 

Ish-bosheth ¹  was unable to answer Abner with even a single word because he was afraid of him.

You will be protected ¹  from malicious gossip, ²  and will not be afraid of the destruction ³  when it comes.

You will laugh at destruction and famine ¹  and need not ²  be afraid of the beasts of the earth.

For now ¹  you have become like these streams that are no help; ²  you see a terror, ³  and are afraid.

who ¹  would take his ²  rod ³  away from me so that his terror ⁴  would not make me afraid.

You will lie down with ¹  no one to make you afraid, and many will seek your favor. ²
