Abijah and his army thoroughly defeated them; ¹  500,000 well-trained Israelite men fell dead. ²

“I will display my majesty ¹  among the nations. All the nations will witness the judgment I have executed, and the power I have exhibited ²  among them.

With flaming fire he will mete out ¹  punishment on those who do not know God ²  and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.

The Lord his God handed him over to the king of Syria. The Syrians ¹  defeated him and deported many captives to Damascus. ²  He was also handed over to the king of Israel, who thoroughly defeated him. ³ 

But the Lord struck Pharaoh and his household with severe diseases ¹  because of Sarai, Abram’s wife.

Then the king of Israel marched out and struck down the horses and chariots; he thoroughly defeated ¹  Syria.

For ¹  he ²  wounds, ³  but he also bandages; he strikes, but his hands also heal.

All his days ¹  the wicked man suffers torment, ²  throughout the number of the years that ³  are stored up for the tyrant. ⁴ 

But if that nation I threatened stops doing wrong, ¹  I will cancel the destruction ²  I intended to do to it.

They will know that I am the Lord; my threats to bring this catastrophe on them were not empty.’ ¹ 

‘But I will take you out of the city. ¹  And I will hand you over to foreigners. I will execute judgments on you.

I will desolate Pathros, I will ignite a fire in Zoan, and I will execute judgments on Thebes.

He will withhold from all of them his children’s flesh that he is eating (since there is nothing else left), because of the severity of the siege by which your enemy will constrict ¹  you in your villages.

the Israelites counterattacked. ¹  Benjamin had begun to strike down the Israelites; ²  they struck down ³  about thirty men. They said, “There’s no doubt about it! They are totally defeated as in the earlier battle.”
