I will make streams flow down the slopes and produce springs in the middle of the valleys. I will turn the desert into a pool of water and the arid land into springs.

You are no more secure ¹  than Thebes ²  – she was located on the banks of the Nile; the waters surrounded her, her ³  rampart ⁴  was the sea, the water ⁵  was her wall.

He asked for water, and she gave him milk; in a bowl fit for a king, ¹  she served him curds.

Can the papyrus plant grow tall ¹  where there is no marsh? Can reeds flourish ²  without water?

at the scent ¹  of water it will flourish ²  and put forth ³  shoots like a new plant.

As ¹  water disappears from the sea, ²  or a river drains away and dries up,

You gave the weary ¹  no water to drink and from the hungry you withheld food.

why it is so dark you cannot see, ¹  and why a flood ²  of water covers you.

He locks the waters in his clouds, and the clouds do not burst with the weight of them.

My roots reach the water, and the dew lies on my branches all night long.

He draws up drops of water; they distill ¹  the rain into its mist, ² 

The breath of God produces ice, and the breadth of the waters freeze solid.

May he rule ¹  from sea to sea, ²  and from the Euphrates River ³  to the ends of the earth!

He divided the sea and led them across it; he made the water stand in a heap.

The watery deep covered it ¹  like a garment; the waters reached ²  above the mountains. ³ 

He opened up a rock and water flowed out; a river ran through dry regions.

The water covered their enemies; not even one of them survived. ¹ 

Tears stream down from my eyes, ¹  because people ²  do not keep your law.
