In all hard work ¹  there is profit, but merely talking about it ²  only brings ³  poverty. ⁴ 

An evil person seeks only rebellion, ¹  and so ²  a cruel messenger ³  will be sent against him.

The one who oppresses the poor to increase his own gain and the one who gives to the rich ¹  – both end up only in poverty.

But you were brought down ¹  to Sheol, to the remote slopes of the pit. ² 

Correct us, Lord, but only in due measure. ¹  Do not punish us in anger or you will reduce us to nothing. ² 

He repeatedly ¹  attacks me, he turns his hand ²  against me all day long. ³ 

So his mother told him, “Any curse against you will fall on me, ¹  my son! Just obey me! ²  Go and get them for me!”

Then Laban said to him, “You are indeed my own flesh and blood.” ¹  So Jacob ²  stayed with him for a month. ³ 

We will give you our consent on this one condition: You must become ¹  like us by circumcising ²  all your males.

If we do so, ¹  won’t their livestock, their property, and all their animals become ours? So let’s consent to their demand, so they will live among us.”

The first disappeared ¹  and I said, “He has surely been torn to pieces.” I have not seen him since.

However, if the injured servant ¹  survives one or two days, the owner ²  will not be punished, for he has suffered the loss. ³ 

However, a spring or a cistern which collects water ¹  will be clean, but one who touches their carcass will be unclean.

They ¹  said, “Has the Lord only ²  spoken through Moses? Has he not also spoken through us?” ³  And the Lord heard it. ⁴ 

The land must be divided by lot; and they will inherit in accordance with the names of their ancestral tribes.

When they arrived, Samuel ¹  noticed ²  Eliab and said to himself, ³  “Surely, here before the Lord stands his chosen king!” ⁴ 

(Now the servant did not understand any of this. Only Jonathan and David knew what was going on.) ¹ 

However, for your father David’s sake I will not do this while you are alive. I will tear it away from your son’s hand instead.

I will humiliate David’s descendants because of this, ¹  but not forever.” ² 

Do not audit the foremen who disburse the silver, for they are honest.” ¹
