(Now Rebekah had a brother named Laban.) ¹  Laban rushed out to meet the man at the spring.

But Esau ran to meet him, embraced him, hugged his neck, and kissed him. Then they both wept.

And a ¹  young man ran and told Moses, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp!”

Joshua sent messengers who ran to the tent. The things were hidden right in his tent, with the silver underneath. ¹ 

They stood in order ¹  all around the camp. The whole army ran away; they shouted as they scrambled away. ² 

So they ran and brought him from there. When he took his position among the people, he stood head and shoulders above them all.

Some time later Absalom managed to acquire ¹  a chariot and horses, as well as fifty men to serve as his royal guard. ² 

Then Joab said to the Cushite, “Go and tell the king what you have seen.” After bowing to Joab, the Cushite ran off.

Another third of you will be stationed at the Foundation ¹  Gate. Still another third of you will be stationed at the gate behind the royal guard. ²  You will take turns guarding the palace. ³ 

When Athaliah heard the royal guard ¹  shout, she joined the crowd ²  at the Lord’s temple.

Like a bridegroom it emerges ¹  from its chamber; ²  like a strong man it enjoys ³  running its course. ⁴ 

They come with red cloth ¹  from Egypt, Ethiopia ²  voluntarily offers tribute ³  to God.

I did not send those prophets. Yet they were in a hurry to give their message. ¹  I did not tell them anything. Yet they prophesied anyway.

They ¹  charge ²  like warriors; they scale walls like soldiers. ³  Each one proceeds on his course; they do not alter ⁴  their path.

They rush into ¹  the city; they scale ²  its walls. They climb up into the houses; they go in through the windows like a thief.

The chariots ¹  race madly ²  through the streets, they rush back and forth ³  in the broad plazas; they look ⁴  like lightning bolts, ⁵  they dash here and there ⁶  like flashes of lightning. ⁷ 

The Lord responded: ¹  “Write down this message! ²  Record it legibly on tablets, so the one who announces ³  it may read it easily. ⁴ 

Ahimaaz the son of Zadok again spoke to Joab, “Whatever happens, let me go after the Cushite.” But Joab said, “Why is it that you want to go, my son? You have no good news that will bring you a reward.”

Then the watchman saw another man running. The watchman called out to the gatekeeper, “There is another man running by himself.” The king said, “This one also is bringing good news.”

When he finished offering the burnt sacrifice, Jehu ordered the royal guard ¹  and officers, “Come in and strike them down! Don’t let any escape!” So the royal guard and officers struck them down with the sword and left their bodies lying there. ²  Then they entered the inner sanctuary of the temple of Baal. ³
