and sent out a raven; it kept flying ¹  back and forth until the waters had dried up on the earth.

After a while, ¹  the stream dried up because there had been no rain in the land.

So God sent ¹  a worm at dawn the next day, and it attacked the little plant so that it dried up.

He shouts a battle cry ¹  against the sea ²  and makes it dry up; ³  he makes all the rivers ⁴  run dry. Bashan and Carmel wither; ⁵  the blossom of Lebanon withers.

For the Lord your God dried up the water of the Jordan before you while you crossed over. It was just like when the Lord your God dried up the Red Sea before us while we crossed it. ¹
