But Esau ran to meet him, embraced him, hugged his neck, and kissed him. Then they both wept.

He kissed all his brothers and wept over them. After this his brothers talked with him.

Then Joseph hugged his father’s face. ¹  He wept over him and kissed him.

¹ Then all the community raised a loud cry, ²  and the people wept ³  that night.

Then you came back and wept before the Lord, but he ¹  paid no attention to you whatsoever. ² 

Again they wept loudly. ¹  Then Orpah kissed her mother-in-law goodbye, ²  but Ruth ³  clung tightly to her. ⁴

Elisha ¹  just stared at him until Hazael became uncomfortable. ²  Then the prophet started crying.

The one who weeps as he walks along, carrying his bag ¹  of seed, will certainly come in with a shout of joy, carrying his sheaves of grain. ² 

By the rivers of Babylon we sit down and weep ²  when we remember Zion.

they will tear out their hair because of you and put on sackcloth, and they will weep bitterly over you with intense mourning. ¹

As David was going up the Mount of Olives, he was weeping as he went; his head was covered and his feet were bare. All the people who were with him also had their heads covered and were weeping as they went up.

While Ezra was praying and confessing, weeping and throwing himself to the ground before the temple of God, a very large crowd of Israelites – men, women, and children alike – gathered around him. The people wept loudly. ¹ 

Then Nehemiah the governor, ¹  Ezra the priestly scribe, ²  and the Levites who were imparting understanding to the people said to all of them, ³  “This day is holy to the LORD your God. Do not mourn or weep.” For all the people had been weeping when they heard the words of the law.

Then she ¹  died in Kiriath Arba (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan. Abraham went to mourn for Sarah and to weep for her. ² 

Esau said to his father, “Do you have only that one blessing, my father? Bless me too!” ¹  Then Esau wept loudly. ² 

All his sons and daughters stood by ¹  him to console him, but he refused to be consoled. “No,” he said, “I will go to the grave mourning my son.” ²  So Joseph’s ³  father wept for him.

He turned away from them and wept. When he turned around and spoke to them again, ¹  he had Simeon taken ²  from them and tied up ³  before their eyes.
