What father among you, if your ¹  son asks for ²  a fish, will give him a snake ³  instead of a fish?

Jesus answered, “I am not possessed by a demon, ¹  but I honor my Father – and yet ²  you dishonor me.

If you have known me, you will know my Father too. ¹  And from now on you do know him and have seen him.”

Then ¹  I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate ²  to be with you forever –

So Joseph sent a message ¹  and invited ²  his father Jacob and all his relatives to come, seventy-five people ³  in all.

so that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

and I will be a father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters,” ¹  says the All-Powerful Lord. ² 

so that ¹  through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.

“Honor your father and mother,” ¹  which is the first commandment accompanied by a promise, namely,

Jesus replied, ¹  “Do not touch me, for I have not yet ascended to my Father. Go to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”

Or do you think that I cannot call on my Father, and that he would send me more than twelve legions ¹  of angels right now?

Immediately he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him.

Jesus ¹  asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood.

The soldiers ¹  forced ²  a passerby to carry his cross, ³  Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country ⁴  (he was the father of Alexander and Rufus).

Jesus ¹  said to another, “Follow me.” But he replied, ²  “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”

I will get up and go to my father and say to him, “Father, I have sinned ¹  against heaven ²  and against ³  you.

You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.’” ¹ 

“Do not suppose that I will accuse you before the Father. The one who accuses you is Moses, in whom you have placed your hope. ¹ 

Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so the one who consumes ¹  me will live because of me.

You people ¹  are doing the deeds of your father.” Then ²  they said to Jesus, ³  “We were not born as a result of immorality! ⁴  We have only one Father, God himself.”
