Now Thomas (called Didymus), ¹  one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came.

When he came to the steps, Paul ¹  had to be carried ²  by the soldiers because of the violence ³  of the mob,

When we entered Rome, Paul was allowed to live ¹  by himself, with the soldier who was guarding him.

You know that when you were pagans you were often led astray by speechless idols, however you were led.

But when Cephas ¹  came to Antioch, ²  I opposed him to his face, because he had clearly done wrong. ³ 

So also we, when we were minors, ¹  were enslaved under the basic forces ²  of the world.

For in fact when we were with you, we were telling you in advance that we would suffer affliction, and so it has happened, as you well know. ¹ 

Then ¹  when the Lamb ²  opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come!”

Then ¹  when the Lamb opened the fourth seal I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come!”

When ¹  Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he went on from there to teach and preach in their towns.

When it was full, they pulled it ashore, sat down, and put the good fish into containers and threw the bad away.

Now ¹  when they approached Jerusalem ²  and came to Bethphage, ³  at the Mount of Olives, ⁴  Jesus sent two disciples,

When the harvest time was near, he sent his slaves ¹  to the tenants to collect his portion of the crop. ² 

When ¹  they had mocked him, they stripped him of the robe and put his own clothes back on him. Then ²  they led him away to crucify him.

When it was evening, after sunset, they brought to him all who were sick and demon-possessed.

He said to them, “Have you never read what David did when he was in need and he and his companions were hungry –

But ¹  a suitable day ²  came, when Herod gave a banquet on his birthday for his court officials, military commanders, and leaders of Galilee.

When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of pieces did you pick up?” They replied, “Twelve.”

Now ¹  as they approached Jerusalem, ²  near Bethphage ³  and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, ⁴  Jesus ⁵  sent two of his disciples
