Hasn’t Moses given you the law? Yet not one of you keeps ¹  the law! Why do you want ²  to kill me?”

However, because Moses gave you the practice of circumcision ¹  (not that it came from Moses, but from the forefathers), you circumcise a male child ²  on the Sabbath.

At that time Moses was born, and he was beautiful ¹  to God. For ²  three months he was brought up in his father’s house,

When the man said this, ¹  Moses fled and became a foreigner ²  in the land of Midian, where he became the father of two sons.

‘I am the God of your forefathers, ¹  the God of Abraham, Isaac, ²  and Jacob.’ ³  Moses began to tremble and did not dare to look more closely. ⁴ 

This is the Moses who said to the Israelites, ¹  ‘God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers.’ ² 

For Moses has had those who proclaim him in every town from ancient times, ¹  because he is read aloud ²  in the synagogues ³  every Sabbath.”

But again I ask, didn’t Israel understand? ¹  First Moses says, “I will make you jealous by those who are not a nation; with a senseless nation I will provoke you to anger.” ² 

and not like Moses who used to put a veil over his face to keep the Israelites ¹  from staring ²  at the result ³  of the glory that was made ineffective. ⁴ 

By faith, when Moses was born, his parents hid him ¹  for three months, because they saw the child was beautiful and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.

Then Jesus said to him, “See that you do not speak to anyone, ¹  but go, show yourself to a priest, and bring the offering ²  that Moses commanded, ³  as a testimony to them.” ⁴ 

“Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies without having children, his brother must marry the widow and father children ¹  for his brother.’ ² 

He told him, ¹  “See that you do not say anything to anyone, ²  but go, show yourself to a priest, and bring the offering that Moses commanded ³  for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.” ⁴ 

“Teacher, Moses wrote for us: ‘If a man’s brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, that man ¹  must marry ²  the widow and father children ³  for his brother.’ ⁴ 

Then ¹  he ordered the man ²  to tell no one, ³  but commanded him, ⁴  “Go ⁵  and show yourself to a priest, and bring the offering ⁶  for your cleansing, as Moses commanded, ⁷  as a testimony to them.” ⁸ 

They asked him, ¹  “Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies leaving a wife but no children, that man ²  must marry ³  the widow and father children ⁴  for his brother. ⁵ 

Philip found Nathanael ¹  and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the law, and the prophets also ²  wrote about – Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”

Then Jesus told them, “I tell you the solemn truth, ¹  it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but my Father is giving you the true bread from heaven.

Moses said, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers. You must obey ¹  him in everything he tells you. ² 

For we have heard him saying that Jesus the Nazarene will destroy this place and change the customs ¹  that Moses handed down to us.”
